Hyundai Motor is set to sponsor the Eastern Economic Forum held in Vladivostok, Russia, next month.

The carmaker said Tuesday that it will provide 50 Starex minivans and 150 Genesis G80 sedans for the two-day forum. About 3,000 high ranking officials and businesspeople from 56 countries are expected to participate.

To facilitate political and economic cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region, Russian President Vladimir Putin established the forum in 2015. The annual event is now one of Russia's largest economic events along with the Saint Petersburg forum. Putin is scheduled to take part this year.

Hyundai Motor said this will be a great opportunity to show excellence of the Genesis in quality and competiveness.

"During the forum, Hyundai Motor will showcase the Genesis G80 in front of the event venue as well as at a promotion booth," a Hyundai official said.

Hyundai Motor, which suffered declining sales in China in the aftermath of Korea's deployment of a U.S. anti-missile battery, saw outstanding performances in Russia.

Korea's largest carmaker and its sister brand Kia Motors sold 183,916 cars during the first seven months of this year, up 17 percent from a year ago. The market share was 21.8 percent, the second after Renault Nissan.

The carmaker's luxury division Genesis introduced the G90 sedan, or EQ900 on the Korean market, last September and the G80 sedan this March
